Bihar elections 2020: Tejaswi Yadav unveils RJD’s Poll manifesto

One of the strongest rivals to the CM Nitish Kumar-led NDA government in Bihar assembly is RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal) led by Lalu Prasad Yadav’s son and the Chief Ministerial candidate Tejasvi Yadav.

Tejaswi Yadav who is also considered as the youth icon in the politics of Bihar, recently, released their party manifesto for Bihar Assembly polls 2020.

RJD promises Bihar 22% of its budget on education, 85% of government jobs in the state to be reserved for the local residents.
What would definitely catch the eye and would prove to be a mega crowd-puller is the promise of providing 10 lakh government jobs.

The manifesto in this regard reads: “due to the failures of the NDA (National democratic alliance) government” there are lots of posts left vacant, and after RJD is elected to the office in power these positions will be filled along with the creation of new posts gradually. The work of time-bound provision of 10 lakh jobs will begin in the first cabinet meeting itself.

Targeting NDA Tejasvi Yadav spoke, “a 10 lakh figure is not a number from the air, we don’t make big or fake promises.”

4.5 lakh job positions in various sectors remain vacant, these will be provided at once. The rest will be created in the diverse fields of medicine, education and police.
In the manifesto, under the title that reads: “Youth: Higher Education and Employment“, It talks about putting in place a local policy that would reserve 85% of government jobs in the state for local residents only.

In the agricultural sector: 70% of rice, wheat, maize, makhana and pulses will be bought by the government at MSP and bonuses will be provided as well.
Credits at Nil percent interest would be granted as well. RJD also promises Waiving farm loans and Kisan credit card loans pre 2020.

The industrial sector will receive a better new policy and a” business commission” too. Food processing industries, food parks, IT parks, special economic zones, every market to be facilitated with a warehouse, cold storage, etc. The businessman will receive brands in zero-interest loans to set up agro-based industries such as sugar in jute etc.

Other promises in the manifesto include:

• Tax waivers and tax deferments for industries.
• All government exam forms to be available free of cost.
• Employment centres in every district.
• equal work equal pay.
• contractual workers to be made permanent (especially government school teachers)
• halt to the privatization of government-run departments.

With all the candidates from the various contending political parties on the ground to win the hearts, beliefs, trust and support of their voters,
Bihar’s political atmosphere seems to have warmed up for a good contest of political power in a completely democratic manner.
The Bihar Legislative Assembly elections is scheduled in three phases for 243 seats in total.
The first phase is scheduled to take place on 28th of October, the second on November 3rd, and the last on 7th of November 2020.
