On Tuesday, a senior health official said the city of Wuhan, where the coronavirus appeared a year ago, commenced the Covid-19 emergency vaccination on some main categories. China has yet to certify the various vaccines officially.
He Zhenyu, deputy director of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Wuhan, told the press in Wuhan that the vaccine is available at 48 designated clinics in 15 districts, launched on December 24, targeting some sections of the population aged between 18 and 59 years.
In May of this year, after growing worries about the rebound of the pandemic, Wuhan conducted COVID-19 checks on approximately all its population, but the city recorded fewer cases in the subsequent months.
As per the commission, a total of 82,021 people were released from hospitals after their recovery, and 4,634 died as a result of the outbreak. As the state reviewed evidence from clinical trials at home and abroad, China began making emergency use of its vaccines.

China has entered a multinational vaccination partnership called COVAX.
Nine vaccine applicants, namely two from China, are undergoing testing for incorporation in the COVAX facility, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has said.
The COVAX is co-led by Gavi, the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI), and WHO, a multinational vaccine alliance. According to Johns Hopkins University, the number of coronavirus infections has reached 80.7 million worldwide, while fatalities have increased to more than 1.76 million.
