The woman tested positive for COVID-19 gives birth to a Corona negative baby boy. At the time of this deadly outbreak of COVID-19, a couple welcomed corona negative child despite both of them being tested positive for corona.
The baby was born 10 days ago in AIIMS to a woman who was tested positive for corona. According to the sources, the baby is “healthy and doing well as of now”. The baby was delivered by Dr.Neerja Bhatla through C-section. A nine months pregnant woman tested positive for the infection after her husband a senior resident doctor at AIIMS was found infected. It is the first case of a child being born to a corona infected woman in Delhi.
The mother being corona positive has no major symptoms and is doing fine until now. Also, the infant is being monitored and is being allowed to breastfeed as there is no evidence of corona transmission through breastfeeding.
According to doctors, women with COVID-19 infection can breastfeed their child but only under proper hygienic conditions. Corona infected women should wear a mask while breastfeeding and should touch the baby with clean hands.
Proper care of hygiene must be taken.
