Have you ever heard that a movie is going to be a blockbuster, but then you go to see it, you’re like, “What is so unique about this movie?” If you answered yes, you are welcome to join the club.
Because we’re kicking ourselves for wasting our money, time, and popcorn on the following flicks, which have grossed over 20 crores and leave us wondering why and how?
1. Airlift
We’re sure a lot of people will love us after we proclaim Airlift an overrated film in the comments. However, yes! It’s an overhyped film.
Airlift had a compelling story to tell, and they performed admirably in the film. However, it could be told more engagingly.
Airlift received numerous awards, and it sparked patriotism in all of us. However, we regret to inform you that Airlift does not deserve an IMDb rating of 9.
2. Ghanchakkar
The concept seemed great: three pals rob a bank, and then the money in charge loses his memory. The mystery was intriguing, and the actors appeared to be promising as well.
But, given how much we were eager for this film, it felt like a lot of things were lacking when we saw it.
3. Dhoom 3
Is it necessary to say anything about this widely publicized and overrated Bollywood film? It was unexpected, given the success of the first two Dhoom films.
4. Himmatwala
When the trailer first came out, it was literally everywhere, and the songs were virtually everywhere as well, from television to radio, everyone was anticipating Himmatwala.
But, once again, it was a huge letdown. It felt like a house of cards that was blowing incredibly swiftly with a slight breeze.
5. Gunday
After Ram Leela, this was Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra’s next film. The hyped film’s bromance, promotions, and events all failed to make it a hit.
6. Jai Ho
Even though it was a film about social responsibility and sounded promising, the execution of the film was poor.
It had some pretty excellent stuff and some really good moments, but it couldn’t quite live up to the expectations.
7. Heroine
Since Aishwarya signed it, Madhur Bhandarkar’s Heroine was the buzz of the town. The heroine was a big hit all around the world, from India to Cannes.
Following Kareena’s signing, the film became overvalued as a result of the publicity. However, the much-anticipated Bollywood film bombed horribly.
8. Besharam
It was a period when everyone expected Ranbir Kapoor to perform at his best. His flicks were being praised one after the other.
Besharam, however, was a surprise among his gems, as he didn’t quite fit his crown.
9. Jab Tak Hai Jaan
With all due respect to iconic director Yash Chopra, his last movie failed to wow the audience.
The love film is only worth a single viewing because of the brilliant filmmaker Yash Chopra’s closing touch.
Logic is what Jab Tak Hai Jaan is missing. JTHJ is reminiscent of many previous Bollywood films, and the second part of the film features a convoluted tale that makes you question your common sense.
10. Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobara
Following the success of the previous installment, we had high expectations for the sequel. Akshay Kumar, Imran Khan, and Sonakshi Sinha were all on board, but watch what happened.
Our excitement for this film has completely dissipated. Even though it produced a truly remarkable record, it fell short of its predecessor.
11. Chennai Express
Rohit Shetty intended to make a funny film but instead delivered a terrible drama.
We can see how the aging Shahrukh Khan was struggling to make an impact in the action scenes, and how the leading actress outperformed him.
In this film, Rohit Shetty used a novel approach to comedy by mocking south Indian culture. It’s a pity that the film went on to become yet another blockbuster.
