Your story begins when you start to dream, develop a vision and it all starts with an idea. No matter how big or small, fancy or basic, difficult or easy your dreams may sound, they are worth. Here’s an inspiring story of a man who didn’t stop chasing his dreams. His aim to become India’s most prominent Chef involved times which weren’t favourable. But with his hard-work and believe in himself today Sanjyot Keer is not just a Chef but amongst those “under 30” influential people of India who have a huge net worth. His featuring in Forbes India’s Tycoon of Tomorrow 2018 is an example that speaks for his achievements in itself.
Sanjyot Keer, the man behind Your Food Lab (Cooking Channel) is a well-known Celebrity Chef of India. Known for his elegancy in cooking, he is loved by people for the smile and happiness he brings through his recipes.
Sanjyot had a love for cooking since childhood when he was just 12 years old. With slightly less interest in his academics, he still secured 95 in class 10th Home Science paper, the only optional subject that involved cooking. He topped Hotel Management Studies at Queen Margaret University and also was fortunate enough to get a chance as a food producer for the fourth season of TV show Master Chef India.
Years went by thinking of his next move and his passion for cooking but due to some circumstances, things fell apart and he was not sure about how far will he be able to take this as his career because he was not associated with any restaurant and freelancers barely earned back then. As a result of all this, he joined his father’s business but as a hobby opened his Facebook page with the name “Your Food Lab”.
Initial days were tough as the recipes he uploaded after his work didn’t bring him a good amount of viewership. A bit of research made him realize that there wasn’t a page then that featured fast food videos and recipes and without further delay, he got the first content that he shot as a recipe for “Your Food Lab” his Facebook page.
On 25th April 2016, he finally uploaded his first video, it was a Pizza Dosa recipe which got 10k views in just a day. His second video brought him 100k views in a day but his third video which was No Baking Mango Cheesecake recipe turned out to be a big encouraging factor with 1 million views within 24 hours. His page was flooded with appreciating comments and messages and there was no looking back afterwards. People started looking forward to his uploads. He resigned from his father’s business to devote his 100 per cent attention to make this page grow. People who first doubted his capabilities and discouraged him with negative comments were the same ones who now follow his recipes.
Over last three years, he has uploaded more than 1000 videos, got featured in n number of interviews, worked with many food brands and now his page is backed by 3 Million followers on Facebook.
He has expanded his page on Instagram and also runs a channel on YouTube.
Sanjyot had a different vision and immense courage to pursue his dream. His ideas were objected by many but instead of paying heed to all the pessimism, he did everything to make his dream the reality of his life. His story tells that no dream is ever too small to be taken for granted, no matter what anyone thinks. You just need to have enough faith in your ideas and stay committed to them. In Sanjyot’s own words “Do what it takes and do not kill your stupid idea.”
