The Taliban who recently took over Afghanistan has been accused of shooting a Female police officer dead. The woman has been named Banu Negar by the local Media. She was shot dead at her family home in front of her Family Members.
She was killed at Firozkoh, the Capital of Central Ghor province. The killing is being reported at a time where there are incoming reports of repression against women by the Taliban. However, the BBC has reported that the Taliban has denied its involvement in this case. They said that they are investigating the Banu Negar matter.
The Taliban spokesperson Zabiullah Mujaheed said that the Taliban is aware of the incident. He confirmed that the Taliban has no involvement in the case and they have initiated an investigation into the matter. He also said that they have already announced no revenge for the previous government officials. He also added that the murder might be a case of personal enmity or something else.
The details of this case are still not blurred because the people of Firozkoh are afraid of the Taliban. Therefore, they are not sharing more details. But, BBC sources have reported that the Taliban also beat and shot Banu dead in the presence of her husband and children.
The Relatives have also shared some graphic images of blood spread over the wall in the room Corner and a body. The face of the body was disfigured by the incident. The family members said that she used to work at a local prison. Banu Negar was 8 months pregnant. Three gunmen came to her home and were searching before tying up the family Members. Those people spoke in Arabic, according to their Relatives.
The Taliban took power in Afghanistan on 15 August 2021. Since then they have continued to portray its image as a more tolerant organization against its international reputation and its earlier reputation. However, on the other side, numerous incidents are being reported about the brutality by the Taliban in various parts of Afghanistan.
Many global and local Human Rights organizations have reported revenge killings, arrests, and persecution of the religious minorities in Afghanistan. But, the Taliban have already claimed that it will not seek any kind of revenge against previous government officials. The slogan given by the Taliban was “No grudges, no revenge” in their first press conference after taking over the country.
It is difficult to analyze the harassment by the Taliban, especially over women. Many repression incidents go unreported due to fear. There is an increasing tension particularly among women for their social freedom, freedom to work, and equality. The fear is more among the women professionals who earn for their families. Many working women and young girls have gone into hiding over fear from the Taliban.
In the previous regime by the Taliban, women were not allowed to work or go out without covering their faces. Taliban continues to say that women and girls will get their rights within Islam. On the other hand, the Taliban is creating new rules and laws for the girls who are staying or the women professionals who work.
