Signs of mild fever, conjunctive, joint pain, rashes, chest, and nose infections in patients are commonly seen in every house these days. The coronavirus has yet to go properly; rather, it has come up with a double-strength — Zika virus.
What exactly is the Zika virus?
The mosquito-borne virus is spread through the bite of an infected Aedes species of mosquito. It mostly bites during the day.
According to the World Health Organization announces (WHO), the Aedes mosquitoes usually bite during the day, peaking during early morning and late afternoon or evening.
Talking about its history, it was first discovered in 1947 when a mosquito-borne Zika virus reached epidemic proportions in Brazil. In 2015, thousands of babies were born with microcephaly disorder that causes babies to be born with abnormally small heads and underdeveloped brains. Kanpur is in a severe phase of hardship from the virus.
Uttar Pradesh was the first Zika case to be detected. At least 89 people- including 17 children- have tested positive for the Zika virus. The number of cases has increased over the past week.
The initial outbreak of the virus was reported in the industrial city of Kanpur on October 23. The warranty administrator at the IAF (International Aeronautical Federation) tested positive for the infection.
So far, 3283 samples have been collected from the city and sent to the virology lab of KGMU in Lucknow and NIV (Non-invasive ventilation) in Pune for the test.
Kanpur has struck out the 100 cases.
With 16 new Zika Virus cases added to the tally in the Kanpur industries, about 9 men and 7 women were reported. Two were in an advanced stage of pregnancy from the Zika epicentre of the Chakeri area and one case tested positive on Saturday from the neighbouring Kannauj district. A total of 106 cases have been reported till now.
In that Mode, CMO, Dr Nepal Singh said that 16 new patients are residents of Harinder Nagar, Pokharpur, Tiwaripur Bagiya, and Kazi Khera localities in the Chakri area. For now, the report of pregnant women who contracted the virus underwent an ultrasound test and specialists confirmed that their fetuses were very healthy.
Well, the report of seven women and 2 pregnant ones with 9 men confirmed to be carrying the Zika virus. But, they do not carry any severe symptoms. Though the patients have been suggested for home isolation.
CMO declared that “About a hundred squads have been deployed in the City for source reduction and 15 teams for home Sampling and sampling. Also, 15 Rapid response teams (RRT) have been engaged to check the spread of the Zika virus”.
Health department officials said that a massive sampling campaign is underway in affected areas.
Officials said that “Most of the patients are asymptomatic. Door-to-door survey and sampling of symptomatic peoples being done. Instructions have been given for sampling pregnant women, particularly those in the affected areas. Also, radiology centres have been alerted. If there is any problem in the development of fetuses, information should be given to the control room immediately,”
