India has partially lifted the ban from exporting malaria drug ‘Hydroxychloroquine’ and Paracetamol after a phone conversation between the U.S. President Donald Trump and the prime minister.

He said to the Prime Minister that the U.S.A would appreciate allowing a U.S order of the drug to come out.

“The condition and the quantity of these two drugs supplies will depend after meeting the domestic needs. Both these drugs will be supplied to all the neighbouring countries, insufficient quantities as per India’s capability”, officials said.

While addressing a press conference in the US Trump said he was unaware of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision. He said, “I don’t like that decision. I didn’t hear that it was his decision. I would be surprised if that was his decision. He would have to tell me that”. “

With the drastic surge in COVID-19 cases in America, President Donald Trump slightly hinted of retaliation for not supplying and continuing its ban.

“If he doesn’t allow it to come out, that would be OK, but of course, there may be some retaliation, why wouldn’t that be,” He further added.

The statement Trump made, astonishing media and the people from both countries. Two of them are said to have friendly relations, were seen best on Trump’s visit to India in February.

Trump believes that Hydroxychloroquine can be a possible treatment for coronavirus and has obtained 29 million chloroquine or hydroxychloroquine pills for its medical stockpile. But the efficacy of Hydroxychloroquine is still not proved. According to a report published in ‘The Guardian’, “The French study followed work by Chinese researchers which suggested that hydroxychloroquine can slow infections from Sars-CoV-2, the virus behind COVID-19, by blocking it from entering cells in the body. But more recent, albeit small-scale, research from China has shown that patients who were treated with the drugs fought off coronavirus no more quickly than those who didn’t get it. Indeed, one patient given hydroxychloroquine severely worsened in condition while four patients on the medicine developed signs of liver damage and experienced diarrhoea”.
