Tech giant company Apple is developing over-ear headphones that include swappable ear pads and headbands that magnetically attach. It is also said that it will include Siri support for voice control, noise cancellation, and some built-in touch controls.

The Apple headphones have been in development since 2018 and their launch has been postponed at least twice. Bloomberg says, Apple is planning to unveil the headphones later this year, but the ongoing coronavirus pandemic could complicate launch timing. This product will compete against premium headphones of Sony, Sennheiser, and Bose with its high-end offerings like Sony’s 1000XM, Sennheiser’s third-gen momentum, or Bose’s noise-canceling headphones 700 which currently have priced around $350.

According to Bloomberg’s sources, Apple is developing two versions of the headphones. One would be fitness-oriented, with breathable materials, similar in some respects to fitness-focused Apple watch bands and accessories. The other would aim for a premium feel with “feather-like fabrics”. Both headsets are described as having a “retro” appearance “with oval-shaped ear cups that swivel and a headband connected by thin, metal arms.”

The features of this headphone include noise cancelling, noise isolation, wireless pairing functionality, wireless charging, optional wired connection when superior audio quality is required, H1 chip, and gesture control. In addition to usual H1 headphone features like always listening ’Hey Siri’, it is possible that Apple brings some more smart features from Air Pods into headphones.
