The International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC)2 is a non-profit organization that offers the security-related and vendor-neutral IT credentials. The company comes with six different core security certifications within its program. These are SSCP, CISSP, CAP, CSSLP, HCISPP, and CCSP. It also provides some specialization certificates aimed at the CISSP certified professionals. These badges include CISSP-ISSAP, CISSP-ISSEP, and CISSP-ISSMP. Those who do not meet the required work experience can pursue Associate of (ISC)2 to launch their certification path.

Highlights of (ISC)2 Certification Program

  • Associate of (ISC)2

Associate of (ISC)2 is not a certification in the full sense of word, it is kind of the (ISC)2 membership for the entry-level specialists and those changing their career in the field of IT. An Associate of (ISC)2 is a member of (ISC)2 who paid the annual maintenance fee to join the organization, but not yet build up enough work experience to earn the full certificate of this vendor.

  • SSCP

The System Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) credential is intended for the professionals with knowledge of fundamental cybersecurity concepts. They also know how to utilize basic security tools. They can maintain countermeasures and monitor systems to prevent any security incidents. Getting this certification requires passing a single exam and having a minimum of one-year relevant experience in at least one of the SSCP Common Body of Knowledge (CBK) domains.

  • CISSP

The CISSP, Certified Information Systems Security Professional, certificate validates one’s skills in architecting, designing, managing, and controlling security of an enterprise. To obtain this cybersecurity credential, you must have at least five years of experience in two or more of the eight domains of the (ISC)² CISSP CBK and take the prerequisite exam.

  • CAP

This credential recognizes the security officers and enterprise system owners who maintain and authorize information systems intending to balance risk with the security prerequisites and counter-measures. The applicants for the certification should have two years of work experience in at least one of the CAP CBK domains and pass the required exam.

  • CSSLP

The Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional (CSSLP) credential is designed for the software developers looking to develop their application security skills. To earn this certificate, one should have a minimum of four years of work experience as a software development lifecycle professional in one or more of the eight domains of the (ExamSnap ISC CISSP)² CSSLP CBK. The certification exam is also a prerequisite.

  • HCISPP

This certification is intended for the consultants and experts with the role of maintaining information security in healthcare. The candidates with this badge can implement, assess, and manage countermeasures that protect medical data privacy. To qualify for the certificate, you should have a minimum of two years of experience in at least one HCISPP CBK domain and sit for the corresponding exam.

  • CCSP

This (ISC)2 certificate is aimed at the individuals working with Cloud technology. They ensure data safety, identify security risks, and develop mitigation strategies to address risk. To get this credential, the candidates should have at least five years of experience in the IT sector. Three of five years should be in information security and a minimum of one year of experience in one of the CCSP CBK domains. As for the mentioned above certifications, passing the qualifying exam is a mandatory requirement to be CCSP certified.
