What is the exact period of banning these accounts?

WhatsApp banned 1,759,000 Indian accounts between November 1, 2021-30 and November 30, 2022. A +91 phone number identifies an Indian account.

Why were these accounts suspended?

WhatsApp terminated these Indian accounts in accordance with the company’s abuse detection strategy, which also includes action taken in response to negative input received from users via the ‘Report’ function.

What is the technique for detecting abuse?

Abuse detection occurs at three points in an account’s lifecycle: upon registration, during messaging, and in reaction to negative input received by the firm in the form of user reports and bans. These technologies are supplemented by a team of analysts that assess edge cases and assist us in increasing our performance over time.

WhatsApp users may report accounts.

WhatsApp users can report accounts that they believe are spam, abusive, or otherwise problematic. The firm obtains the latest five communications sent to the user by the reported individual or group without informing them. WhatsApp also receives the reported group or user ID, as well as information on when and what sort of message was delivered (image, video, text, etc.). A user may also report an account by long-tapping a single message.

WhatsApp also allows users to block accounts on their own.

Users of WhatsApp can blacklist numbers. When you block someone, your last seen, online, status updates, and changes to your profile photo are no longer accessible to the contacts you’ve banned. Messages, calls, and status updates from the contact will not appear on your phone and will not be delivered to you.

Where can one find a list of banned WhatsApp accounts?

The blocked accounts may be found in the Blocked section (iPhone and KaiOS) or the Blocked contacts section (Android) in your WhatsApp settings.

What blocking contact does not do is

Blocking a contact does not remove you from your contact list, nor does it remove you from the contact’s phone list. To delete a contact, firstly remove it from your phone’s address book.

Conclusion

Doing the following may result in your account being banned or worse:

  • Impersonation and the creation of a false account in the name of another person
  • Sending too many messages to people who aren’t on your contact list
  • Utilize third-party apps such as WhatsApp Delta, GBWhatsApp, WhatsApp Plus, and others.

If you have any, remove them since WhatsApp does not allow users to interact using such applications owing to privacy concerns. Also,

  • Sending pornographic videos, threats, or libellous messages
  • Sending bogus texts or films that encourage violence
