Updated on 24 October 2026. Filled the role, or posted a job by mistake? LinkedIn does not let you delete a job post, but you can close it in a few clicks. Once closed, the job disappears from search results and nobody else can apply. Here is how to do it on desktop and on the LinkedIn app, and what happens afterwards.

Can you delete a job post on LinkedIn?

No. According to LinkedIn Help, job posts cannot be deleted, only closed. Closing does the job most people want from “deleting”: the post stops showing in search and stops taking applications.

How to close a job post on LinkedIn (desktop)

  1. Click the Jobs icon at the top of your LinkedIn homepage.
  2. Click Manage job posts.
  3. Find the job you want to close and click the More icon to the right of its title.
  4. Click Close job.
  5. Confirm by clicking Close job again.

You can also close a job from its Job Info page, using the Close job button.

How to close a job post on the LinkedIn app

  1. Tap the Jobs icon.
  2. Tap the More icon next to the search bar.
  3. Tap Manage job posts.
  4. Find the job and tap the More icon to the right of its title.
  5. Tap Manage Job, then Close job.
  6. Confirm by tapping Close job.

What happens after you close a job post

  • The job is removed from LinkedIn search results.
  • Candidates can no longer apply.
  • If you collected applications on LinkedIn, you can still see the applicant list for the closed job. If applicants were sent to an external website or applicant tracking system, that list will not be visible on LinkedIn.
  • A closed job cannot be reopened. You can repost it, but that creates a new job post, and earlier applicants stay linked to the old, closed one.

When LinkedIn closes a job automatically

  • Job posts close automatically six months after they go live, if you have not closed them yourself.
  • If you set a total budget for a promoted job, the post pauses once that budget is used up.
  • If LinkedIn cannot process the charges for a paid job post, it closes the job automatically.
  • Billing for a promoted job continues until the job is closed, so close it as soon as the role is filled.
