Satyendar Jain, Delhi Health Minister complained of difficulty in breathing and has been admitted to a hospital in New Delhi on Monday night.

With 42,000 COVID-19 cases, Delhi has the third-highest number of infections in India after Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. 55 years old, Delhi Health Minister had been working day and night to tackle this novel virus that has spread in the national capital like wildfire.
He notified on his Twitter handle, “Due to high-grade fever and a sudden drop of my oxygen levels last night I have been admitted to RGSSH. Will keep everyone updated.”
The test results are yet to be displayed. Delhi Health Minister is still on oxygen support.
Signs and Symptoms of novel coronavirus 2019 may appear 2-14 days after exposure. This time after exposure and before having symptoms is called the incubation period. Common signs are – fever, cough, and tiredness. Other symptoms can be – shortness of breath, muscle aches, chills, sore throat, loss of taste or smell, headache, and chest pain.
Jain handles various portfolios in the Delhi Government of Aam Aadmi Party, including health, industries, public work department, and transport. As the Health Minister of the national capital, he has been a prominent face in the AAP Government’s fight against COVID-19.
Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal on learning the conditions of Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain, prayed for his well-being and said, “You have worked relentlessly for the people. Now, take care of yourself.”
On Sunday 14th of June, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain had attended a meeting with Home Minister Amit Shah, Health Minister Dr. Harshvardhan, Delhi L-G Anil Baijal, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, Delhi Chief Secretary, and Home Secretary were also there in the meeting. The gathering was held at the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Even the previous week, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had complained of sore throat and fever. On account of showing these symptoms of a novel coronavirus, he was also tested. The results later came out to be negative.
His hospitalization could have an impact on the AAP government’s repose to COVID-19 given his role as health minister.
Last week, the Delhi government warned Delhi could see 5.5 lakh COVID-19 cases by July 31 as it sought to allocate more hospital facilities to residents.
