India records 43,846 fresh Covid-19 cases, more than 3 lakh active cases

India recorded 43,846 fresh infections of Coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in the last 24 hours, the total number of Covid-19 cases touched over 1.5 crores in the country so far, said the Union health ministry.

 

Since November 25, this is the highest single day infection of Covid-19.

The active cases in the country crossed over 3 lakh, while 1.11 crore people have been recovered, with 22,956 recoveries in the last 24 hours.

According to the health ministry’s data updated at 8 am, the death toll has now crossed over 1.59 lakh, with 197 new casualties recorded in last 24 hours,  

 

The experts suggested that this rapid rise in Covid-19 cases in March indicates the second wave of infection has begun based on the increasing positivity rate and active cases.

 

In the last three days, India saw over one lakh fresh Covid-19 cases, only on Saturday, India registered 40,953 new cases, on Friday 39,726 new cases were found, while 35,871 fresh cases were registered on Thursday.

 

197 new fatalities took place in the last 24 hours, 92 from Maharashtra, 38 from Punjab, 15 from Kerala and 11 from Chhattisgarh.

 

A total number of 1,59,755 deaths have been recorded in India so far, 53,300 from Maharashtra, 12,590 from Tamil Nadu, 12,432 from Karnataka, 10,955 from Delhi, 10,303 from West Bengal, 8,758 from Uttar Pradesh and 7,189 from Andhra Pradesh.

 

ICMR said  23,35,65,119 samples have been tested till March 20 with 11,33,602 samples being tested on Saturday.
