Delhi anti-CAA-NRC protests that took a massive violent turn didn’t have the power to destroy the strong will of Nargis Naseem, a victim who scored 62% marks in class 12th CBSE board examination despite, her books were destroyed by the pogrom fires.
On her way to the Physical Education Examination in February 2020 the riot broke out all of a sudden near her home in Khajuri Khas. With the help of some relatives she was able to return home safely but the very next day everything at her home was burned to ashes including her precious books on which she heavily relied for her upcoming board examinations.
“We shifted to a rented place. My parents arranged new books through an NGO. But, our exams were first postponed and later cancelled due to coronavirus induced lockdown”, Nargis told the media.
Even though her family’s financial income was weak, she didn’t give up on her courage of studying. But losing all her books and handwritten notes was truly one of the most devastating phases of her life. Nevertheless, after all the rearrangements her family made from a local NGO for her she started everything from the start and today she scored more than what she expected in a very little span of time she devoted to her preparations.
Nargis believes that she would have surely performed well if all this chaos had not taken place but she is happy with her marks. Nargis could manage to appear only for two subjects one being the Political Science and other the Physical Education as the Coronavirus pandemic led to the suspension of the exams till further notice.
“The CBSE has given the option to appear for the cancelled exams later on. But no one is sure when these exams will be held. Right now, I am preparing myself for the college admission” Nargis said.
Vision-2026, a project of NGO Human Welfare Foundation (HWF) has declared to support all the future educational expenses of Nargis looking at her firm determination.
HWF’s chief executive officer (CEO) Mohammed Naufal said that the house of the girl earlier destroyed by the rioters was repaired successfully by the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) at a cost of about Rs. 1.84 lakhs. “Our NGO will now finance the educational cost of the girl”, said Naufal.
Nargis’s determination towards achieving something is commendable. Where we often end up complaining and ranting about certain situations, this girl didn’t lose hope and worked hard in achieving good marks despite all odds and TSA urges its readers to be inspired by this girl and never lose hope.
