The Year 2020 is surely been unlucky for Bollywood. Where we haven`t yet overcome the losses of the many prominent faces of the Indian film Industry like Irrfan khan, Rishi Kapoor, Wajid Khan, and Sushant Singh Rajput and now we heard another downcast news of Saroj Khan’s demise. The whole country is mourning for their death.

Saroj Khan also is known as ‘the Mother of Dance’ in India was a famous choreographer of the Hindi Cinema. The ‘Latkas Jhatkas’ shot brought Saroj Khan to Fame. In a career span of over forty years, Saroj Khan choreographed more than 2000 songs. Almost all the celebrities have been directed by Khan for their dance moves.

Song from Tezaab (1988) a love story, starring Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit. Madhuri dancing to the strong moves choreographed by khan turn the song on the top of the charts. The hook step used in the song became so famous that people still repeat it and there are videos online to learn it.

Nimbooda Nimbooda:

We cannot skip Nimbooda Nimbooda while remembering Saroj Khan. Saroj Khan not just taught moves and steps but to bring emotions and expressions on each line and word that made the dance more interesting and worth dancing on.

Choli ke Piche Kya hai:

Madhuri Dixit thought of Saroj Khan not just as a choreographer but as a friend who helped her grow in her career and taught her lessons which helped her getting fame and stardom. Choli ke piche kya hai is another song choreographed by Saroj Khan and performed by Madhuri Dixit. We songs left last long impact on all of us and made our childhood better.

Dhak Dhak:

The veteran choreographer also time and again said that Madhuri was her best and most favourite students. The moves and grooves of Madhuri Dixit on this song actually increased the pulse rate of her fans. Saroj Khan was the choreographer who can bring energy, boldness risqué and sweetness all kind of expression in a single song.

Hawa Hawai:

Saroj Khan trained Sridevi for this song so gracefully that everyone at that time tried to match steps on this creation and even today the people remember all the steps as well as the song. This song opened up so many opportunities for Saroj khan and she started acclaiming as dance choreographer of repute.

Dola Re Dola

Again collaborating with Madhuri Dixit and Aishwarya Rai in the song, it`s from Devdas(2002) starring Shahrukh Khan in the leading role. Dola Re Dola is an unforgettable song that Saroj Khan choreographed. The hook step became so popular at that time. This song is remembered as one of the best of two leading ladies of Bollywood collaborating. You too must have copied the signature step of the song.

Ye Ishq Haaye

The song from Jab We Met (2007) is another biggest hit song from her. Kareena Kapoor Khan showed off her moves in the snow-capped beauty of Himachal Pradesh. People still love this song. The way Saroj made the song come alive with her choreography which is visible through Kareena`s moves and expressions is something which only the former could pull off.

Tabaah Hogaye

This remains Saroj khan`s last song and incidentally, this too was with Madhuri Dixit. The song also features Alia Bhatt from their film ‘Kalank’ (2019). Madhuri is seen brushing up her kathak skills in the classic number. She choreographed her last song very beautifully with her favourite student.

Apart from a wonderful Bollywood career Saroj also did a programme on the small screen. From being a judge to a guest, the choreographer has graced mostly all dance shows on Television. Saroj was always straightforward as a judge and never sugar-coated her comments. However, in case she liked an act, she would give RS 101 to the contestant, a habit she picked up from her teachers. She had won three national awards. She also won eight Filmfare awards for choreography, the highest till date that anyone has received in the category.
