Tata Altroz full review- Tough game for Baleno and i20 this time

On everyday scale Tata is becoming trustworthy more and more, putting one step ahead in every new launch. Tata launched its all-new premium hatchback around 5 months back. Altroz will fight against the country’s most likable hatches-Hyundai i20 and Maruti Baleno, although nobody will consider jazz in this competition, Honda should launch a new one to make a good comeback in the competition. The Altroz offers uncommon designed with shark faced headlights, looks aggressive and the rear is finished with piano black treatment with beautifully designed tail lamps.

Under the Hood

The Altroz happens to be the first Tata to get BS6 compliant engine. The Altroz comes with 2 engine options-

The 1.2-litre petrol engine produces 83 Ps of power and 116 m of torque. The engine is not up to the mark like the peppiness in Baleno is something else. This engine doesn’t have much to give but never leaves you disappointed in the city.

1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine feels like a more suitable package then a petrol one. The four-cylinder unit comes from Nexon though in a lower form produces 90 ps of power and 200 nm of torque. The downgrade of power makes it more suitable with 5-speed manual gearbox with more peppy feedback.

Features and the interiors have always been the biggest game-changers in every car, so here are some key features of we have opted in top trim-

  • Harman Cardon music system
  • Ambient lighting at the footwell
  • 7-0 inch touchscreen with android auto and apple Carplay
  • 7.0-inch MID screen
  • Push-button start
  • Reverse camera,auto-lights, rain-sensing wipers
  • 16-inch laser cut alloy

The Altroz makes for a practical family car with an adequate amount of space and comfort. In the driving context, it does a great job with the best dynamics on offer and after 5-star in the NCAP crash test, there is nothing to say about safety.

Although the peppier engine and refinement are still the things to protest against the overall package is justified at the price point of 5.29-9.29 lakh.
