In the Indian team for the tri-series in Sri Lanka, he took the place of the injured Gautam Gambhir. In the 2009 ICC Champions Trophy, Kohli took Yuvraj Singh’s spot as the reserve batsman in a seven-match home ODI series against Australia. In January 2010, Kohli took part in a tri-national ODI competition in Bangladesh. He became the third Indian batsman in history to hit two ODI centuries.
