From Nirbhaya gang rape to Dr Priyanka Reddy, to the Hathras gang rape, it’s been an endless journey of justice, equality, debates, political agendas and the list goes on.

Welcome to the Rape Culture of India, where you pick up a newspaper or switch to any random news channel, there is a good chance you’ll come across yet another case of rape of a woman, a minor or even an infant.

Women aren’t safe in India, in such times, where you expect the people in power to take significant steps towards women security or at the least to be delicate while speaking about the brutal cases, they equally become deaf, speak selectively according to their illogical, bizarre and clueless notion of the cares, harassing the victim further verbally, blaming the woman.

TSA presents to you the 9 sexist slurs by the top Indian Leaders of the county;

1) “Rapes happen when unemployed men can’t get married”, Former SC Judge, Markandey Katju’s

political

The Former SC Judge Markandey Katju, who has been in and out of the spotlight for his controversial remarks, has updated a post on Facebook criticizing the Hathras gang rape. However he has called for brutal punishment for the culprits, Katju criticized the incident on basis unemployment and sexual desire.

“No girl will ordinarily marry an unemployed man”, making the tagline of debate.

Katju has turned a blind eye to all the women who have been raped in homes, schools, roads, madarsas, temples and offices by educated, well-informed men.
According to Katju “they are bound to increase”.

The holier-than-thou judge further pens down, in a rather radical manner, “we have to create a social and economic system in India in which there is no or little unemployment.”

Not that Kajtu has called the #MeToo movement, a tamasha and explained, “#MeToo is just tamasha, will vanish like Anna movement.”

2) “Make yoga part of the curriculum to stop Nirbhaya-like rapes”, Baba Ramdev

political

Yoga guru, Baba Ramdev says, “Judiciary has made history by executing these predators. This will set an example and there will be fear among the people who want to commit such heinous crimes. This case has tarnished the image of our country in the world. The government must make Yoga and moral studies part of the curriculum so that such heinous crimes like rape can be stopped. Parent has to bring awareness to their children.”

Isn’t educating people should be foremost?

3) “Just because India achieved freedom at midnight does not mean that women can venture out after dark. They should ensure they do not board buses with few passengers”, Botcha Satyanarayana

political

APCC president Botcha Satyanarayana found himself stuck in an uncomfortable circumstance when he remarked, in association to the Delhi gang-rape, that “freedom at midnight” did not give freedom to women to roam on the streets during the late hours.

Mr Satyanarayana further added, “women should consider the timing and conditions while going out late. They should ensure that there is an adequate number of passengers while boarding a private bus”.

Proposing an inclusive apology to women in the case who were mistreated by his comment, he said, “My statement should be understood in the proper spirit. It is not aimed at insulting women”.

4) “We should learn from the past… especially in the Mughal era, people used to marry their girls to save them from Mughal atrocities and currently a similar situation is arising in the state. I think that’s the reason khap has taken such a decision and I support it”, former CM, Om Prakash Chautala

political

A day after Sonia Gandhi strongly opposed a Haryana khap — a body of village chiefs which control the social norms in rustic areas — for asserting that girls should be wedded early to curb rapes, the state’s former chief minister Om Prakash Chautala supported this.

Well, it won’t be wrong to say that ‘For someone who has been Chief Minister, he clearly doesn’t know the rule of law.’

5) “Rape Cases Can Be Stopped Only With Sanskar Not Governance”, Surendra Singh

political

Amid enormous outrage over the plausible gang rape of a 20-year-old woman from Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras, who died in Delhi, Surendra Singh a BJP MLA from UP’s Ballia commented, “I am a teacher along with being an MLA. Such incidents (like rape) can be stopped only with sanskar (culture), not with shasan (good governance) or talwar (referring to a sword or might)”.

The BJP MLA has been known for making contentious remarks in the past. The previous year, he had told that Nathuram Godse, who assassinated Mahatma Gandhi “was not a terrorist” and added that he “committed a mistake“.
Earlier this year, he commented on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, announcing she is a “cruel-hearted woman“.

6) “Indiscriminate Liquor Sales A Cause”, Congress MP On Telangana Rape

political

Days after a 26-year-old veterinarian was gang-raped and murdered on a highway in the state of Telangana.

Uttam Kumar Nalamada Reddy a Congress MP from Telangana said, One of the reasons for rape cases is the indiscriminate sale of liquor.
Reddy stated in Lok Sabha “A lady doctor was abducted, gang-raped, murdered and burnt in a high-security area. One of the causes of the incident is the indiscriminate sale of liquor. We request a fast track court be set up and accused hanged till death”.

Is the Lok Sabha member implying controlling liquor sale usage can stop rape cases in the country?

7) “Unbecoming of Indian women to sleep after rape”, Karnataka HC

political

The Karnataka High Court has remarked that it was “unbecoming of an Indian woman” to sleep after she is “ravished” while approving of a pre-arrest bail to a man charged of rape, deceiving and criminal intimidation.

Karnataka HC also remarked complainant’s delinquency to clarify why she went to her office at 11 pm on the day of the plausible crime and didn’t disapprove to consuming drinks as reasons for bail order.

It’s highly disappointing, to see a body of judiciary, coming up with their terms and conditions of Rape.

political

“If she’s one with self-respect, she will die, otherwise our society has the circumstances to ensure it doesn’t happen again…,” remarked Kerala PCC chief Mullappally Ramachandran.

The president of the Kerala unit of the Congress Mullappally Ramachandran called a woman who had blamed numerous leaders and ministers of the prior Congress-led UDF government of raping her, a “prostitute”
Ramachandran then decided to express his unconditional regret and apologised in the same event.

He announced, “As my remarks were construed as anti-women by certain quarters, I express my regret unconditionally”.

Well, Do rape victims who do not commit suicide have no self-respect?

9) “#MeToo began when women started working”, Mukesh Khanna

political

The television actor Mukesh Khanna, known for his shows like Mahabharat and Shaktimaan, made a misogynist remark that men and women aren’t equal and that the crisis of sexual harassment has started ever since women started working.

In a viral video over the internet, Khanna can be seen saying, “Men and women are different. It is a woman’s duty to look after the house. The problem of #MeToo began when women started working.”

He went on to say, “It all began when women started saying that they want to do the same things that men do. No, a man is a man and a woman is a woman.”

Soon after the clip went viral over the Internet, netizens criticised Khanna for his misogynist remark. While some named his remarks ‘desperate’, others remembered how his character of Shaktimaan was the exemplar of all things good and righteous.
