The filmmaker Anurag Kashyap issued a statement through his lawyer after he was questioned on Thursday for more than eight hours, in a case of sexual allegations filed against him by actor Payal Ghosh. The statement denied any truth in the allegations against him terming the complaint as an “outright lie.”
The statement says that all allegations levelled against Anurag Kashyap are false and baseless. At the time, when the said incident took place, according to the actress, Anurag Kashyap was not in India for a month. He was in Sri Lanka for the shooting of his film. The actor has submitted all the necessary documents for the same to the police officials investigating the case.

The statement by Kashyap’s lawyer, Priyanka Khimani, came a day after the filmmaker was questioned at the Versova Police Station for over eight hours in connection with the rape allegations that he had physically assaulted the actor at his house in 2013. “Mr Kashyap has provided documentary proof of the fact that throughout August 2013, he was away, and was in Sri Lanka in connection with the shooting of one of his films. Mr Kashyap has categorically denied that any such alleged incident never took place and has also denied all allegations levelled against him,” read the statement.
“Mr Kashyap is apprehensive now that the falsity of her allegations in the FIR has been established, she will alter her version of events in the investigative process as well,” it added.

Mr Kashyap in the statement said that he is distressed with the “false and reckless allegations” that have caused pain to him and his family and has sought severe action against the actor for “misusing the criminal justice system and for hijacking the MeToo Movement for her ulterior motives”.

Taking to Twitter, Payal Ghosh has said that Anurag Kashyap has lied to the Police in his statement. She has revealed that she will move an application seeking various lie-detection tests.
Last week, the actor had filed a rape complaint accusing Mr Kashyap of forcing himself on her in 2013.
