According to law enforcement authorities, the perpetrator in the murders of ten people at a Boulder, Colorado, grocery store — the second mass shooting to rock the United States of America — is a 21-year-old man from a neighbouring Denver suburb who used an AR-15 style assault rifle.

According to law enforcement sources, the suspect’s identification was known to the F.B.I. since he was connected to another suspect under surveillance by the agency.

Policeman Eric Talley, 51, of the Boulder Police Department was one of the casualties of Monday’s rampage, according to Chief Maris Herold, who had answered to a “barrage” of 911 calls about the incident.

Among the 10 people who died in the attack was Eric Talley, an 11-year veteran of the Boulder Police Department, who was described as “heroic” by Chief Maris Herold at a news conference at the scene of the shooting on Monday.

Identification of nine other victims has been made- Denny Strong, 20; Neven Stanisic, 23; Rikki Olds, 25; Tralona Bartkowiak, 49; Suzanne Fountain, 59; Teri Leiker, 51; Kevin Mahoney, 61; Lynn Murray, 62; and Jody Waters, 65.

According to a Facebook page claiming to belong to the suspect, Ahmad Al Issa, he was born in Syria in 1999 and attended Arvada West High School, where he wrestled. The suspect had “lived most of his life in the United States,” according to Boulder County District Attorney Michael Dougherty.

Wrestling and kickboxing were identified as interests on his Facebook page, and several of the entries were about combat sports. In 2019, one post clearly said, “#NeedAGirlfriend.” It stated that he had learned computer engineering at the Metropolitan State University of Denver, but it was unclear if he was still a student there. Within an hour of Mr. Alissa’s name being made public, the page was torn offline.

The shooting at Boulder occurred just six days after another gunman opened fire at massage parlors in the Atlanta area, killing six people.
