In a surprising turn of events, the Taliban on Monday 18th May issued a statement declaring its intention of not willing to interfere in India's internal affairs. The fundamentalist group was referring to the Kashmir issue. It tweeted that the group does not believe in waging a "Pakistani style Ghazwa-E-Hind" or  "holy war"  against India and is fixated on the belief that Kashmir is India's internal affair. This was actually in response to a number of tweets that were earlier making rounds wherein it was said that a cordial relationship between India and Islamic Emirate or more famously the Afghan wing of Taliban is impossible unless the Kashmir issue is out of the way or is resolved and that Islamic Emirate will snatch Kashmir from India. "The statement that has been circulated in certain media regarding India does not belong to Islamic emirate.

The policy of Islamic Emirate regarding neighbour states is very obvious that we don’t interfere in the domestic issues of them,” tweeted Suhail Shaheen, spokesperson of Taliban political office based in Doha, Qatar. Attempts were made to get a statement from the Indian Ministry of External Affairs on the said issue but no response was received.

Recently, deputy of Taliban Political Office in Qatar, Mulla Abas Stanekzai allegedly blamed India for only ever supporting puppet – governments in Afghanistan and not those elected by Afghan citizens. Criticising the blame, Afghan foreign ministry's Gran Hewad clarified that Afghanistan’s relations with India are within international frameworks and based on mutual respect.
