The study used data from two governments and one independent source

This research was conducted using CVoter, an independent source. The outbreak was followed by telephonic interviews with 1.40 lakh people from around the country for this. Aside from that, death data from the government of India hospitals and death registration data from 10 states’ civil registration systems have been used as the foundation.

There were three major revelations regarding the Corona deaths

CVoter, a research firm, contacted 1.40 lakh people across the country and asked them some questions. First, whether there had been a death in his home when it occurred, and whether this death was caused by Covid or something else? The analysis was completed by integrating all the responses. As a result, a startling revelation was made.

Corona was responsible for 29 per cent of the deaths between June 2020 and July 2021. When all the deaths are added together, the total number of deaths approaches 32 lakh. During the months of April to July 2021, 27 lakh people died.

When death rates at 2 lakh hospitals across the country were compared before and after the corona pandemic, there was a 27 per cent rise. It was suspected that Corona was to blame for the rise in deaths.

Similarly, the government’s civil registration data was scrutinized. In ten states, the number of deaths registered during the corona outbreak increased by 26 per cent.

After reviewing all the data, it was discovered that the number of deaths caused by corona in the country will be 6-7 times higher than the figures documented in government records through September 2021.

Underreporting of mass deaths in India; claims researchers

A study published in the journal eLife six months ago looked at fatalities before and during the pandemic. It was discovered that the number of deaths caused by corona is decreasing all around the world. In Russia, there were 4.5 times as many deaths as usual, which is higher than the official Corona data. A similar tendency was also observed in Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, and Egypt.

In a November interview with Business Line, Chinmay Tumbe, one of the study’s authors, said that while there were fewer cases recorded around the world, our analysis revealed how significant the gap is in India. According to research, if our count is true, WHO should enhance its data, which now shows only 54 lakh deaths worldwide till January 1, 2022.

The New York Times estimated India’s death toll at 42 lakh

More than a dozen specialists were hired by The New York Times to predict the precise death toll in India in June 2021. The outbreak in India was placed into three categories by these experts: normal, bad, and very bad conditions. In the worst-case scenario, it is estimated that 700 million people were infected and there have been 42 lakh deaths in India.
