A Deputy Tahsildar, Maachana Raghunandan currently employed in the Enforcement Wing of the Civil Supplies Department in Mahbubnagar Telangana.
He has been campaigning against smoking and tobacco’s consumption, since the premature death of his friend due to tobacco addiction.
Subsequently, it’s been his life’s motto to caution against the usages of smoking and tobacco.
A habit of gifting handkerchief has been developed by him to who he finds smoking and chewing tobacco. He says handkerchief is my gift for you, now you gift yourself giving up smoking and tobacco.
The new Indian express reported since two decades Raghunandan has been campaigning against smoking and tobacco consumption. This conviction had evolved after he felt nearing death of his only friend Deekshitutlu, due to regular use of tobacco and smoking.
Raghunandan says I promised my friend that I would crusade against the use of these ill-health products.
Whenever Raghunandan informs people regarding ill effects of tobacco consumption, he always quotes a tragedy.
Once a tractor driver had a cigarette in one hand and was holding the steering wheel in the other, Which led to a fatal accident and a total of 12 people died.
His perpetual endeavours brought differences in several people’s lives, That they have been quitting smoking and tobacco’s addiction.
The National Resource Centre for Tobacco Control’s (NRCTC) and Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) have facilitated his awards and appreciated his work.
