Blizzards’s darling franchise has long been ruling the world of MMOs, with each consecutive entry leaving a HUGE mark on the world of gaming in its very own way. And now, it’s about time for Diablo 4 to steal the spotlight and keep it all to itself. The game seems to have made some bold changes to the franchise that have become the talk of the town for Diablo lovers.
However, fans with Diablo 4 accounts in beta can’t help but wonder if these changes are good or bad for the franchise and how different Diablo 4 really is from its predecessor. So, in this article, we will take deep dive into the world of Sanctuary and find out the biggest differences between the two Diablo games.
World Event Tasks
World Event Tasks might not be completely new to the world of Diablo, but things sure have taken a whole new level with Diablo 4. Players love random events that appear out of the blue and are almost always a pleasant surprise for players who love exploring the game world. Well, Diablo 4 takes a broader path by introducing more random events spread through the world.
These events are often triggered by the players when they interact with the game world or simply appear out of thin air. Each of these world events is unique in terms of what they offer and ask of the player. Some are considerably easy while others, take some time and can be quite challenging. However, World events can be very rewarding for the players who are up for the task. But the best part is, they let you take on rare enemies, who are likely to drop rare items as well.
Better And Balanced Combat
Unlike Diablo 3, the combat seems to be much more balanced in Diablo 4. The game achieves this through better enemy balancing, which means that enemies are more challenging and require more strategy to defeat. Additionally, the skill system in Diablo 4 encourages players to create balanced builds that combine offense and defence, as opposed to the pure damage-focused builds that were dominant in Diablo 3.
The addition of a timer to dodge rolls also helps balance combat, as players don’t rely solely on evading attacks and must also use other tactics. And it’s not exclusive to only a few of the classes anymore, which makes the combat fair for everyone. Overall, the improved balance in Diablo 4 leads to a more challenging and rewarding combat experience.
Cosmetics and Customization
About time Blizzard introduced a standard Customization system for the players of Diablo. We saw a glimpse of it in Diablo 3, but it was less than decent, to say the least. However, in Diablo 4, you get to experience a proper customization system that diminishes the need of visiting your town to get your fix on cosmetic products.
Instead, you get to use create sets of armor and weapons from salvaged items, which will have priority over any other gear you equip. Moreover, you can dye each piece of armor separately, without any cost. Players do need to buy additional slots but at least, the first one is free. This is definitely a big step up from Diablo 3.
Timed World Bosses
World bosses have been a big part of many modern RPGs for years and it’s finally time to face them in Diablo. Blizzard seems to have added quite some impressive world bosses to the game and we can tell that from the looks of Ashava, a deadly demon giant for players to hunt. Just like any other game, world bosses in Diablo 4 will have you working in groups with intricate planning to take on these beasts and defeat them in battle.
This is a huge addition to the game, one that many modern RPG lovers will enjoy. Especially with all the much-needed changes in combat. And since these boss fights are timed, you only get a small window to come up with a strategy and defeat the boss with the help of your teammates. The best part? You get rewarded with legendary weapons if you do so.
Conclusion
After a little detour in Diablo 3, Blizzard is going back to its roots with Diablo 4. The game brings back the dark gothic aesthetic that’s a much better fit for a post-apocalyptic world. Diablo 4 also comes packed with more content than both Diablo 2 and Diablo 3, including Dungeons, quests, and more. Players also have more freedom to direct their journey through the game’s world and combat that feels more balanced and strategic.
