The Great Khali, originally Dalip Singh Rana’s inclusion in the Bharatiya Janata Party, came days ahead of the Punjab Assembly polls. He joined the BJP at its headquarters in Delhi. During his induction, he showed faith in PM Modi’s leadership and said he was “impressed” by his work in the country, and his willingness to contribute to the nation. He further said, “I’m glad to have joined the BJP… I feel that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s work for the nation makes him the right PM. So, I thought, why not be a part of his governance for the nation’s development. I joined the party after being influenced by the BJP’s national policy.”
Before this, Mr Rana had served as an Assistant Sub-Inspector for the Punjab Police. Along with Dalip Singh Rana, two other members, Balwan Singh and Satyendra Singh joined the party on the same day. All three of them joined the party in the presence of Rajya Sabha MP Arun Singh, MoS Jitendra Singh, and Lok Sabha MP Sunita Duggal.
Notably, during the harsh days of farmers’ protest, Khali had lent his support to the year-long farmers’ agitation against the three farm reform laws that were introduced by the central government. The laws have now been repealed.
