You don’t need to book campervans or restrict your vacation to align with train or bus routes to travel across the UK. Your budget shouldn’t keep you from traveling far and wide on the route you and your friends’ group have defined. All you need are your regular motorcycles and a passion to explore the country.

Here is how you should plan and prepare for your UK trip on your college vacation.

Complete Documentations

I assume that all friends in your group have their bikes to travel. If someone doesn’t have a bike, they can either borrow one from their friends or book a rental. But just getting a bike will not be enough, you must also get a license to be able to ride a bike.

And don’t rely on your driving license for biking, you will need a motorcycle license to ride on UK roads. Getting this license takes time as you have to start with preparing and passing the theory test, taking compulsory basic training (CBT), and passing the practical test. So, if you are planning a motorcycle trip, you should start at least the licensing process six months before the scheduled dates.

Decide the Trip and Your Group

Once you completed the resources, you need to decide the members that will make up the group and get them on a Whatsapp group for easy communication. Don’t dwell too long on this part. It’s normal for such groups to go through phases of formation and termination multiple times until the day of the trip.

But this grouping should happen earlier as it will let you understand the interests of the people who will accompany you allowing you to plan the destinations. Take some time, to brainstorm the destination, research the routes, and make compromises on what should be included and what shouldn’t. You will have to include time and budget factors while defining the route of your trip.

Budget

Now, you have the route and a rough idea about the budget you will need for the trip. It’s time to dig deeper. Look up the destinations you have included in the trip for the best attractions it will offer. You will also have to select hotels or campsites depending on the mood and budget your group will allocate for this trip.

Considering the transport and accommodation costs and other activities you will enjoy on your trip, define your daily budget as well as complete budget.

Arrange

You may have to book the accommodation and vehicles in advance –especially if you are planning a summer trip. Prepare your bikes and rentals where applicable. You will also need to choose the outfits you will take on the tour. It’s suggested that make a list of all essentials that you will take with you so you don’t miss them while packing.

Takeaway

This post talks about all the planning steps that you need to accomplish to gather and coordinate a group for your motorcycle trip across the UK. Make sure that all members take with you on the trip have appropriate riding skills along with safety training for motorcycle riding.
