Brand Finance, a leading brand valuation consultancy has released the list of the strongest Hotel Brands. This time, the list has been topped by an Indian Hotel Brand Taj. It has been rated as the world’s strongest hotel brand. On the other hand, Hilton is rated as the world’s most valuable Hotel Brand.
Its ‘Hotels 50 2022’ identifies and rates the strongest and most valuable hotel brands in the world. For this, Taj got 88.9 out of 100 on the overall Brand Strength Index. Also, it got a AAA rating in different aspects. The rating is calculated after considering several aspects including customer familiarity, employee satisfaction and corporate reputation with customer service. Taj Hotels has a brand value of USD 314 million.
The ‘Pandemic effect’ on Taj
It is significant to note that the hotel industry was severely hit by the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdowns. It hit all the hotel brands in India including Taj. But, Taj made special strategies to adjust the situation with suitable policies as per the need of tourists.
Taj came up with agility and vital initiatives. For instance, it offered support to the healthcare sector. For this assessment, brand Finance does original market research. This involves more than 1 lakh respondents in more than 35 nations from 30 different sectors.
It is an achievement for Taj as it has topped the list for the second year in a row following the massive pandemic.
Other Hotels on the list
TAJ with a BSI score of 88.9 is followed by Premier Inn and Hilton hotels and resorts in the second and third spots. The fourth place is taken by Hampton by Hilton and Fifth by Embassy Suites Hotels.
Apart from these, JW Marriott, Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, Residence INN by Marriott, Waldorf Astoria Hotels and Resorts and W Hotels Worldwide are also on the list.
On the other hand, Hotel brands following Hilton Hotels and Resorts in the list of most valuable hotel brands are Hyatt at USD 5.9 billion and Holiday Inn at USD 4.2 billion.
Taj Hotels is all set to Grow
Just a few weeks back ICHL announced that it’s planning to build a portfolio of 300 hotels. It will be done with an emphasis on Taj. Indian Hotels Company Limited (ICHL) is South Asia’s fastest-growing hospitality company. It has a portfolio of 236 hotels across 11 countries.
Also, in April, the company announced that it would launch 15 Taj Hotels in the next 10 years. This includes Five properties in Dubai. Moreover, there are several other destinations in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and India with a proposal in Chennai. This will bring a total of 3 Taj Hotels in the city.

Taj Hotels is a chain of luxury Hotels. It’s a subsidiary of the Indian Hotels Company Limited. They have their headquarters in Mumbai, India. It was founded by Jamsetji Tata in 1902. Also, the company is a part of the Tata Group which is one of India’s largest business empires. As of 2022, it operates a total of 90 hotels and hotel resorts. This includes 75 in India and 15 across other destinations in the world.
