Nihang chopped off Policeman’s hand and injured two other police officials when asked to show the curfew passes. The incident took place early morning at Sabzi Mandi, Patiala district. In Punjab. The policemen were on their duty to manage the lockdown situation in the state to curb the spread of coronavirus.
A group of four to five Nihangs were traveling to Sabzi Mandi in a car and before entering the police officials asked them to stop by the Mandi Board Officials. They not just showed their entry pass but crashed the vehicle against the gate and barricades put up there by the officials, informed by the Senior Superintendent of police, Mandeep Singh Sidhu.
“An ASI’s hand was chopped off by a sword. A station house officer of Sadar Patiala Sustained an injury on his elbow and another official suffered an injury on his arm in the attack,” Sidhu said.
The injured were rushed to Rajindra Hospital where they were referred to PGIMER Chandigarh.
DGP Punjab Police also tweeted about the same and said that the Nihang group will be arrested and action will be initiated against them soon.
Nihangs are the Sikhs armed with traditional weapons and dressed in the loose blue top.
