India’s Biggest free Kidney Dialysis Hospital Opens in Delhi, Free Treatment & Food for All Patients with no billing counter.
The Guru Harkrishan Institute of Medical Sciences at Delhi’s Bala Saheb Gurudwara which has been set up by the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee or DSGMC promises to expand it to 1,000 beds by the end of one year.
New Delhi: A 100-bedded kidney dialysis center, the country’s largest to provide treatment for free as it claims, was launched on Sunday in Delhi.
The Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee or DSGMC, which has set up the Guru Harkrishan Institute of Medical Sciences at Delhi’s Bala Saheb Gurudwara, promises to expand it to 1,000 beds by the end of one year.
There is no billing counter at the hospital. There is only a registration counter to keep a record of the patients.
Patients will also be provided free food. In addition to this, Apart from patients, food and drink will also be free for family members of the patients. The food will be supplied from the gurudwara’s langar.
The primary source of funds to run the hospital will be entirely dependent on donations and CSR contributions.
“People have donated machines worth Rs 10 crore. We are receiving funds through donations, not just Sikhs but people of other communities are also coming forward to contribute. We are also receiving funds from the CSR, and government schemes but will not be taking a single penny from the patient.”
DSGMC president Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that the center would function round the clock where all advance medical facilities would be available free of cost.
Sirsa said that the hospital has the capacity to conduct dialysis of about 500 patients every day and that about 100 patients can be provided the service at a time.
Sirsa added that the hospital has 50 beds and 50 electric chairs. This has been done because during dialysis, if a patient feels boredom or discomfort on the bed, then he can also sit on the chair. “The machines and all the equipment installed here are sourced from Germany. All the machines are modern as well as equipped with the latest technology,” he said.
2500 registration has been filled for dialysis on the first day of the hospital. There are also Private rooms for dialysis of serious patients with the disease HIV, or Corona, and it is also free of cost.
