As the crops have started arriving in Delhi mandis, there’s a conflict going on between the AAP government and FCI
-According to the 2020-21 Economic survey
In the last 10 years, the amount of cropped gross has increased up to 7124 hectares.
-Kejriwal’s government wants purchase centers to be opened in Mandi by FCI for farmers to bring their output.
-Farmers claimed that the traders are buying their output below MSP.
-The unit president of Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) claimed that at Narela and Najafgarh mandis, the crops are not being bought on MSP since 2015.
-In the year 2013-14, the FCI acquired 180 quintals at MSP while the production was 8.48 lakh quintals.
-In the year 2015-2016 procurement was 17870 quintals against the production of 7.63 lakhs quintal and in the year 2020-21, the production was 8.25 lakhs while procure was 276.5 quintal.
-In response to the AAP government, FCI claimed that farmers choose to sell their produce to traders instead of bringing it to procurement centers.
-FCI and Delhi joint director of agriculture mutually decided that the procurement will be based on the physical documents including the girdawari document.
-FCI’s Delhi region general manager hit back at Delhi government for the discontinuation of issuance of girdawari document by saying that “it was mutually decided that this is the duty of state authority to issue a certificate for farmers mentioning about agricultural output, land details along with production”.
