Amid nationwide lockdown brutality still wanders on the road. On April,16, three men were beaten out of suspicion that they were presumed of child thefts for organ, in Phalghar district. The deceased Chikne Maharaj Kalpavrukshagiri (70), Sushilgiri Maharaj (35), Nitesh Telgade (30) were mob lynched which was approximated 101 -110 people involved. The identification of attacked revealed by sources were 2 sadhus and 1 driver in which one police personnel was also injured. It was reported by India Today, the victims were heading to a funeral in Surat where they stopped the car where the incident happened and were dragged to death. For this, sources, revealed that two Inspector General of Police Konkan Range and Niket Kaushik had been suspended for the frailty of duty. This case seems to active opposition where On April 19 Devendra Fadnavis slammed Maharashtra Government for being less vigilant and said,” Phalghar mob lynch is very cruel and a serious matter. It is more shocking to us the way the police did not take any action against people gathering in the area with sticks.” He added,” What can be more shameful than the way police handed over these people into the hands of a berserk mob and allowed them to take the law into their hands.”
Also on the same day, Maharashtra Deputy CM Anil Deshmukh said, ”The government has started high-level enquiry with the strict warning to give it any communal agenda and directed the police to keep a close eye on the people to give it a voice to divide society”.Besides, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray assured justice to the deceased and promised strict action against the guilty. He said, ”The Phalghar incident has been acted upon. The police have arrested all those accused who attached 2 sadhus and 1 driver and the police personnel, on the day of the crime itself.” Uddhav Thackeray continued, ”Nobody guilty in this heinous crime and shameful act will be spared and they will be brought to justice in the strongest way possible.” The statements do not stand here. UP CM Yogi Adityanath stood in solidarity for the deceased and tweeted, ” Spoke to Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray yesterday evening Regarding the murder of saints of Juna Akhara Swami Kalpvrikshgiri, Swami Shushilgiri and their driver Neelesh Telgarhe. I have urged to take strict actions against the culprits.” However, the Supreme Court had directed the Central Govt to frame separate law against mob lynchings back in July 2018 itself. The Court also laid guidelines to state govt to stop mob lynchings. Two years have passed since that judgement. Still neither the central nor the state govt. have followed the order.
Sadly, as far as the investigation headed the grievous incident, it had already turned gross, as the videos which went viral on social media have heart-wrenching sights to capture over humanity.
