On 26th October, rumours were spread through social media about the injustice and violence prevailing to the Muslim minority in the northeast state, Tripura where the Hindutva groups were accused of the infringement of the Holy Mosque. Soon after the news broke on the Internet, the outrage amongst the minority community in Tripura concerned the whole of India with its flames, but recently it turned into a destructive riot in the major cities of Maharashtra.
However, the Tripura police have denied the claims of the uproar caused in the state and further arrested 102 people under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, UAPA for circulating the misinformation, disrupting the peace amidst the population of India. Strict actions were taken to avoid any misunderstanding broadcasting through social media in the future or maybe the other way around.
What is the core reason behind all these protests against protests?
Everything started when the Bangladeshi mobs attacked several people of the Hindu minority residing in that country, causing 6 deaths and a dozen injuries during the festival time of Durga Puja and as Tripura shares border with Bangladesh, a committee called Vishva Hindu Parishad protested while expressing the agony for the damage caused to the community. During the course of the VHP revolt, the alleged controversial statements against Muslims and pictures of the mosque burning in Tripura escalated across social media.
This news of communal violence once again hurt the sentiments of the Muslim minority of India for which they demanded Bandh in Maharashtra and moreover organized protests in major cities such as Amravati, Malegaon, and Nanded. However, the outcry veered into the violence when the incidents of stone-pelting against the police, damaging the public properties and private commodities of the Hindu folks, by the mobs were glimpsed. The vicious protest resulted in the wounding of at least 10 police officers including the SP in Malegaon, meanwhile, 8 cops of Nanded city are in critical condition.
As per the reports issued by the Cyber Cell Department of Maharashtra, 36 social media posts including 25 Twitter columns, 6 Facebook posts, and 5 Instagram posts were primarily responsible for the chaos and misinformation inflicted in the cities of Maharashtra.
Considering the severity of the situation, the Maharashtra government imposed a curfew from 13th November to 16 November in Amravati which has been extended till the next week followed by the shutting down of Internet services for the 4 consecutive days.
The name of the popular organization Raza Academy led by Muhammad Saeed Noori is being connected to inciting a riot in Amravati when they accumulated in front of the BJP leader’s house on Friday. Raza Academy was formed to publish editions of Sunni scholars, especially of Imam-e-Ahmed Raza Khan Qadri. They are also described as fundamentalists to educate and aware the public against the atrocity caused to the Muslim community, as per their official website. This is not the first time when this organization has gained attention for its obnoxious activities, in 2012 they regulated a morcha at Azad Maidan ground to protest against the alleged atrocities on Muslims in Assam and Myanmar leading to 2 deaths and 63 injuries.
Anyway, the revolts will persist ceaselessly in India or any part of the world, unless humanity quits the blame games. The administration will continue to accuse the opposition parties of the ravages committed, and the lives lost, and the mischief-makers will continue to take advantage of the vulnerable until the mindset of the human race transforms for good.
