Republic TV anchor Arnab Goswami and his wife have been allegedly attacked by two goons. On April 22nd, 2020 Arnab Goswami was returning home as usual after his regular work from his debating show at 10:00 pm. When he was on his way back home with his wife, two motorbike borne people attacked their car and threw black ink liquid and tried to bash the window pain in Mumbai.
The police have arrested two people and registered FIR under section 341 and 504 of the Indian Penal Code, at the NM Joshi Marg Police Station, informed by Avinash Kumar, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 3.
Arnab alleged that it was the planned attacked by Youth Congress Worker. He also held Sonia Gandhi personally responsible for this attack on him and his family. “I will be personally going to the NM Joshi police station for filing the complaint and there shall be action over my complaint” tweeted by Arnab Goswami.
The whole controversy started when Arnab put allegation on Sonia Gandhi and held her responsible for the Mob Lynching of two saints in Palghar, Pune. He said that “Would Sonia Gandhi have been quiet if Muslim preachers or Christian saints had been killed instead of Hindu saints,” Goswami said on his show (In Hindi). “She’s quite today, but I think she feels happy that Hindu saints were killed in a state where Congress has a stake in the government. She will send a report to Italy about the fact that she is getting Hindu saints killed in Maharashtra,” he added.
An hour later after stirring the controversy, Goswami alleged that he had been attacked by Congress Youth leaders. Though it hasn’t been proved yet.
Union Information and Broadcasting Minister, Prakash Javedkar, condemned the attack saying that this is “against democracy”.
Recently Arnab Goswami also faced backlash on Twitter. On his debate show, he gave the communal angle to the Palghar lynching. Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh’s clarification that no Muslims among the people arrested for the lynching also drove the demand for Goswami’s arrest. More than 280,000 people used the hashtag #ArrestAntiIndiaArnab.
